Everything You Want To Know About Being a Photographer

I HAVE A QUESTION

Photographer FAQs

What's in your camera bag?

I shoot with Canon equipment. Right now my main camera is the 5D Mark IV. My favorite lenses are the 50mm 1.4, 35mm 1.4, and 100mm Macro. I also take 600EX-RT Speedlites to weddings and some commercial shoots. I still like to use a Sekonic light meter whenever I can.

What camera bag do you use?

I am over the moon with the Peak Design Sling 5L. It is soooo comfortable. Seriously, in 10 years I've had so many different bags. This one is a game-changer. It's perfect for my location portrait sessions as I'm a very minimalist shooter.
When I need my entire equipment at the scene, I use my Lowepro Pro Roller X100 AW.

Did you go to school for photography?

I did! I think I've always known I wanted to be a photographer, but at first I had planned on majoring in Journalism. Somewhere along the way, I came to my senses and decided to study Photography exclusively. It was life changing. But do you need to go to school for photography? Not really! It's definitely a skill you can learn on your own through online courses, mentorships, hard-work, and a shit ton of practice. School will certainly add to it, but it's not a must.

Do you teach photography?

I offer one-on-one mentorship in person or via video-conferencing. Just send me an email and I'd love to chat about it!

Can I assist for you?

I'm always looking for people to add to my roster of assistants and 2nd shooters, so yeah! Just fill out the contact form (Career Opportunities) on the main menu and I'll reach out soon.
