It's summer in Washington, DC and we're all melting most of the time. It can get blistering hot, suffocatingly damp. The idea of being out there photographing can very well sound miserable.
It doesn't have to be.
Something hilarious has been happening to me this year. I'm a night owl. My whole life, early mornings were only achieved through struggle. Why am I waking up with the sunrise so often these days? Who is this person writing a post at 8 AM on a Wednesday? Turns out the weather feels so pleasant, the light is so soft, the birds so cheery, before the day's heat presses down on the city. I should be out there with my camera!
I want to make the most of this summer and I want you to join me. Take advantage of light schedules, the kids being at home, no need to wait for the weekend to make plans. If the idea of waking up before the sun sounds horrendous to you, then we can wait until the sun is low in the sky, let's meet an hour before sunset. If that doesn't work either, then you're in luck because I love nothing more than a session at home. Slow and comfortable, familiar and nicely air conditioned. Any time of day, as long as light is plenty in your living room/kitchen/bedroom.
Your summer joy should be documented! I imagine the kids barefoot in the grass, popsicles in hand, a sprinkler going wild. Watermelons and cherries. The dog is having the zoomies. Dad is spraying the kids with the hose. There's a rainbow. The little one hugs mom's skirt, mango juice drips down her little chubby arms. The sky is so blue. It's a perfect summer day.
Sure, fall sessions are wonderful, but you don't have to wait for it for beautiful photos. In my morning wonderings (apparently that's a thing that happens when you wake up early), I had an idea. For the first time ever in 16 years, I'm offering a Summer Sale! Families, couples, friends, chosen families, gosh... just your beautiful self too! Everyone is welcome.
I want to make summer my favorite time for family photography in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Whether we're meeting at sunrise, photographing your family at home, or chasing the last light of sunset, summer sessions can be relaxed, colorful, and full of movement.
Summer shouldn't languish away without getting it properly recorded. Let's celebrate this season full of light and life. Join me?
Weekday sessions throughout July are 35% off. Reach out through my contact form to reserve your date or just click the button below to secure your spot.
Can't wait to laugh in the sun with you!
